It’s that time of year again. You think we mean the Super Bowl game. Nope. We mean the Joe’s Farm Grill tradition of bringing the football rivalry into the kitchen, pitting champion cities against each other not with a ball on a field, but with a culinary creation on your plate. This year is no exception.
Representing the west coast, we have the San Francisco 49ers, famed for their Super Bowl record and impressive defense, this year celebrated by our own spin on the Bay City’s Shrimp Louie Sandwich. Get ready for a classic shrimp salad tossed in creamy Louie sauce, bedded on farm-grown butterhead lettuce, and topped with avocado and hard-boiled egg on a grilled sourdough roll. Finish up your tribute to the Golden Gate and a possible sixth championship by enjoying our homemade garlic fries on the side.
From the east side, we welcome the Baltimore Ravens to the table, whose roller coaster of a season has landed them in the biggest game of the year. We recognize their achievement with Baltimore’s own Pit Beef Sandwich: thinly sliced beef top round cooked medium rare over charcoal and piled high on a Kaiser roll, slathered with creamy horseradish “Tiger sauce” and garnished with white onion and homemade pickles. Paired with four crunchy onion rings, this sandwich is so good it might make the Ravens say “Nevermore” to the 49ers.
This year’s Super Bowl specials will be available up to and including Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, 2013. Enjoy the competition and remember that rivalries may flourish, but in the end, it’s all about family.
Thanks from the Joe’s Farm Grill team.
